1. What this site stores
This is a small website. It stores four things, and two of them only if you say yes. Nothing here is loaded from an advertising network, and no third party sets anything in your browser through this site.
| Name | Kind | What it does | How long |
|---|---|---|---|
| PHPSESSID | Essential cookie | Keeps your enquiry form together across pages, and carries the token that stops somebody else submitting the form in your name. | Until you close the browser |
| wsp.age.v1 | Essential, local storage | Remembers the answer you gave at the door, so that the age question is not asked on every page. | Until cleared |
| wsp.cookies.v1 | Essential, local storage | Remembers which of the choices below you made, so the banner stops appearing. | Until cleared |
| Analytics | Optional | Counts page views in aggregate so we know which pages are read. Set only if you switch it on. | 13 months |
| Marketing | Optional | Lets us show our own offers to people who have visited before. Off unless you switch it on. | 6 months |
2. Why the essential ones cannot be switched off
Without the session cookie the enquiry form cannot verify that the message came from the page it appears to have come from, which is the ordinary defence against a request forged on another site. Without the two local-storage entries the age question and the cookie banner would appear on every page you open, which is worse for everybody. None of the three tells us who you are and none leaves this site.
3. Changing your mind
The link marked cookie settings at the foot of every page reopens the panel with your current answers in it. Change them and press save; it takes effect at once, and switching something off deletes what it had stored.
4. Clearing it yourself
Every browser can delete cookies and site data, usually under privacy or history, and every browser can be told to refuse them. If you clear the data for this site you will be asked the age question again, and the cookie banner will come back, because the record that you answered was the thing you cleared.
- Chrome — Settings → Privacy and security → Third-party cookies, and Delete browsing data.
- Safari — Settings → Privacy → Manage website data.
- Firefox — Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data.
- Edge — Settings → Cookies and site permissions.
5. What this site does not do
- No advertising network, no retargeting pixel, no social media tracker, no session recording, no heat map.
- No fingerprinting, and no attempt to identify you across other websites.
- No sale or transfer of anything stored in your browser to anybody.
- Nothing is set before you answer the banner except the session cookie, which is set when the page loads because the form needs it.
The one thing loaded from elsewhere is the typeface, served by Google Fonts. That request reaches Google's servers and carries the ordinary information any web request carries, including your IP address. It sets no cookie. If you would rather not make that request, most browsers and content blockers can stop it, and the site will simply use the fonts already on your computer.
6. More
